The No-Nos of Money

We all have our little no-nos in life. Remember when you were a kid and your parents would tell you never to talk to strangers? That’s one no-no. As adults, we carry on such principles. Do you have no-nos when it comes to money? I certainly do – though to be honest, there have been instances wherein the no-no becomes a “well, yeah…”

Here are some no-nos I’d like to share with you.

Denial
This is one state that you should avoid to be in as much as possible. When you are in denial, you ignore reality. You may be up to your neck in debt but you still live as if you don’t owe anyone anything. You spend when you want and how you want. You act like the proverbial ostrich with its head buried in the sand. At the end of it all, though, you would have to face whatever it is that you have to. So what is the point of being in denial when you can do something about your financial situation in the early stages?

“I Deserve This”
When you find yourself justifying unnecessary purchases or an inflated lifestyle, you are probably in the “I deserve this.” mode. What do I mean? You feel as if life has beaten you around for so long that whatever you do, you deserve it and to h*** with anyone who thinks otherwise. It is your money and your debt so you should be left alone. Let me tell you – this is a very bad idea. Again, reality check! There are certain things that you have to have and there some things that you simply can’t – even if you deserve them.
