The Art of Regifting

One of the biggest ways you can spend money this Christmas is by recycling old gifts or giving away things that you do not really use.  This will definitely free up the cash that you have for other expenses that you may have during the holidays.  Regifting may be cheap but it is not improper – if done in a tasteful manner.  Here are some tips to help you regift your way to a thrifty yet merry Christmas.

Don’t tell
How would you feel if someone gave you a scarf and told you that “Hey I got this last Christmas and I don’t really like it so it’s yours?”  Though honesty is the best policy, it is also good practice to withhold information that is unnecessary.  The important thing is that you are giving a gift that you think the recipient will appreciate.  There is no need to spoil the giving by pointing out that it is something that you do not want.

Change the packaging
One of the worst things that you can do when regifting is to give the gift in the same wrapping it came in.  That is only not thoughtless but totally tacky as well!  For one, the wrapping may not be in the best shape.  More so, there might be markings on it that would indicate that it was a gift given to you previously.  The least that you can do is re-wrap it specially for the person you are giving it to.
